Nutrients to help boost energy

Keep Hydrated & Consider Magnesium

Hydration is very important in regulating your energy levels. If your body is short of fluids, one of the first signs is a feeling of fatigue. It is worth noting that alcohol consumption can dehydrate you and also disturb your sleep, leading to tiredness the next day. It is advised to drink 6-8 glasses of water every day. Herbal teas can be classed as hydrating but caffeinated drinks such as tea and coffee do not, and they can also interfere with your sleep patterns so are best limited to earlier in the day as much as possible.

Magnesium is a very important nutrient to consider when evaluating your energy levels. It is required for energy production in our cells, and also helps to convert the food we eat in  to energy. As if that wasn’t enough, this nutrient also promotes better sleep, so subsequently you have more energy the following day. Good sources of magnesium in food include  green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds and wholegrains. We use Magnesium Citrate in our product which is very easy for the body to absorb, and is gentler on the digestive system than other forms of this nutrient.

Don't forget Iron and CoQ10

Being low in iron can lead to iron-deficiency anaemia, which can make you feel tired and run down. Women of reproductive years are especially at risk because they lose iron in their menstrual blood during their periods. Sources of iron include red meat, poultry, eggs, peas, beans and green leafy vegetables. Eating foods rich in vitamin C improves iron absorption. This is why vitamin C and rosehip are included in our Iron Complex.

Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin like nutrient that plays an essential role in the energy production of all cells. It is produced in the body, but natural levels of it decline as we age. As it is fat soluble it is generally advised if supplementing to take it with a main meal. Nutri Nua’s Coenzyme Q10 contains MCT Oil meaning it is not reliant on the quality of the diet for its absorption.

It could be a combination of factors. Consider a multi complex.

Sometimes it can be a combination of micro nutrient deficiencies that are making you feel low in energy. You can always ask in your local pharmacy for advice on which nutrient to supplement with if you are unsure. However, Multi Complex is a great product to trial as a first port of all as it contains a generous amount of the nutrients mentioned in our energy blogs.  If you still feel like you are lacking in energy after following the above advise please seek medical advice. There are some illnesses which can directly affect your energy (e.g. hypothyroidism). This advice is not a substitute for medical guidance.
